Subject:Chinese Finely Carved Wooden Water Buffalo
Posted By: Kevin Donnelley Wed, Feb 08, 2017 IP: 69.120.62.142 This finely carved water buffalo appears to have some age by the amount of related wear at the base. I am hoping one of the experts on carvings might be able to give an estimate on when it was produced. I would also be interested to know the type of wood |

If you Query Google Images for a comparison of the two species, you'll note their horns have different growth patterns. Perhaps this is a souvenir of someone's safari in South Africa. |

Posted By: Tim Wed, Feb 15, 2017 That looks like an African Cape Buffalo, not a water buffalo. Have you considered it might be African in origin? |
