Subject:Meiji period bronze?
Posted By: joseph polaski Fri, Apr 20, 2018 IP: 2601:19b:4700:2847:c We came across this beautiful bronze bowl/pot/planter in the Hamptons a few weeks ago. We really like it but cannot decipher the name on the bottom for the maker. It is 11" across the top, 10" high and weighs 17.5 lbs |

Posted By: Sat, Apr 21, 2018 IP: 125.236.160.238 You’re right identifying this as Meiji period - the mark is for the Yoshida Workshop, which operated from the 1870s - 1880s in Kyoto. The mark reads 「大日本」(Great Japan) 「吉田造」(Yoshida-made) 「京都」(Kyoto). |
