Subject:Tang Dynasty Phoenix Ewer

I have this Phoenix Ewer, hoping a knowledgeable person might give me some insight on it. Rather it's authentic or a reproduction. I see heavy crazing and pitting, with rust spots throughout the ewer.
It's roughly 1'10" (h)

The raised vertical line across the base is a curious feature. Possibly a piece mold seam mark, which might suggest a recent copy.

Robert I was also curious about the mold seam, ive read many articles that says difficult pieces like this would have been done in a mold.

Your pictures are not clear. But from what I can see, the ewer looks good. Although the visible seam at the base is unusual, such pieces were in fact made from molds.

Just like to confirm what you say is its height - 1'10. That makes it 20 inches high. If this is correct?

Yes that's correct, it's roughly (1' 10") give or take a inch or so. It's hard to get a accurate measurement cause of the akward shape of the ewer.

At a height of 1'10", it is much larger than the usual examples of such Tang ewers. Can you post some clear pictures of the head of the ewer and one of the appliques on the body? The "akward shape" of the ewer is a big concern.
