hi at all,
i have the following old Japanese woodblock print.
I don't know anything about it and i'm very interested in any information. Has anyone of you informations about that print or can tell me, where i can find those? The "Japanese woodblock print search" on ukiyo-e.org does not find this print.

The dimensions are: 3pcs each 25x36cm, the Frame is 90x50cm.

I would be very glad if you could help me :)

It's a warrior triptych relating to the Genpei wars depicting the encounter between Wada Yoshimori and Tomoe Gozen. According to popular legend Tomoe Gozen  fought Wada Yoshimori, who defeated her in battle and then became his wife.
From the right to the left are Yamasaki Gozen (山咲御前), the female warrior Tomoe Gozen (巴御前) and her opponent Wada Yoshimori (和田義盛).

The triptych was designed by Utagawa Kunisada (1786-1865, here signing 'Kôchôrô Toyokuni ga') and published by Maruya Seijirô ca. 1847-50.

The artist is Kunisada (aka Toyokuni III) and it was printed 1847-50. My guess is that the subject is a legend. Maybe one of our other print experts can help us out.
