Subject:Bowl Id. Help
Posted By: Lance W Frazer Tue, Jul 03, 2018 IP: 2601:204:4001:3df5:8 In need of experts' help on a small (6 1/2 inch) Chinese porcelain bowl. Seems well-made, although there are some holes in the glazing. I'm guessing it's probably mid-20th century or thereabouts, but it's only a guess. Would greatly appreciate help with the seal on the bottom (part of which is damaged, so may not be legible). I'd like to find out when it was made, and who the artist was. My thanks as always for the help. |

Posted By: Bill H Thu, Jul 05, 2018 This bowl has the decoration typical of wares made for export to the Straits Chinese communities in Southeast Asia. When flipped 180 degrees as shown, the stamped shop mark in seal script will read from the top right down and across as "Made by Zhou Shunxing" (Zhou Shun xing zao - 周順興造). |
