Subject:Japanese aizuri-e woodblock folder

Hi. Can anyone help me identify these woodblocks ? They're on crepe paper, paper backed. I'm wondering if the folder is related or just some generic item from a stationery shop. Folder is dated 1915

You don't provide any size information. Looking at the prints they have borders on 3 sides. Opposing prints have the borders on opposite sides. These appear to be pages from an ehon (book). Further, the pairs of prints compose diptychs as opposing ehon pages might. It appears that an ehon was disassembled, trimmed, and mounted/backed to form a book. The only thing arguing against this thesis is that I don't see binding holes on the inner edge of the pages.

The paper doesn't appear to be creped. I am guessing you mean that is the mulberry paper used for Japanese woodblock prints.

We have something similar. Ehon (by Kunisada) pages were assembled into a scroll. It's hard to see in the below example, but there are binding holes along the center line of the diptychs.

The woodblocks are 15cm top to bottom and stuck to the card only by the very top edge

Yes, the paper could be a mulberry or handwoven paper. The detail within the clouds is impressed into the paper.

No binding holes.

I'm familiar with the larger woodblocks and the books but not seen this before.
