Posted By: Bill H Tue, Sep 04, 2018 The website gotheborg.com carries your egg cup's transfer-printed pattern and mark as being on porcelain made at ornamentation shops in Macao around 1970, while noting that the pattern also is found on the same type of wares produced in Hong Kong in the late 20th century. It is faux rose medallion, which can brighten up a room, though doesn't pass the comparison test. Here's a teapot exported from China a century before the egg cup, with the arms of Macintosh dated to 1869 on the underside. |

Posted By: plasticman Thu, Sep 06, 2018 For those of you who are wondering about the armorial on Bills pot,it is of the Mackintosh family. It is unusual to have an armorial on the bottom of an export piece. There are very few with that positioning. The motto replaces the traditional one of"Touch not the cat but a glove". The present motto means just about the same thing.I know how utterly boring this may seem to some of you, but I live for this stuff. |
