Posted By: Tom Aspden Fri, Mar 29, 2019 Your bowl is of Chinese make, it depicts what I believe to be a 'qilin' while having a xuande mark (1425-1435) however I do not know whether it is genuine or not, but nevertheless it is a very nice bowl. |

Posted By: Beege Fri, Mar 29, 2019 I've done a little more digging on this design and I suspect my 'thoughts (above), that this may be for the eastern market, are probably wrong. I think the design on this plate might represent a Qilin (Kirin), a Chinese/Japanese mythical chimera like creature which represents change in ruler or mystic. |
