Subject:does anyone recognize this mark?
Posted By: Ben Miller Wed, Apr 03, 2019 IP: 2604:2000:1383:41b3: Does anyone recognize this mark? It's at the bottom of an old Chinese ink on vellum drawing I found. Thank you in advance! |

Posted By: Guy Sat, Apr 13, 2019 IMO, this is a Japanese preliminary drawing, eventually for a woodblock print, depicting children and the First Calligraphy of the New Year (子宝吉書初 - 'kissho hajime') - writing wishes or congratulations for the beginning of the New Year, a subject that was popular first half 19th century. |
