Subject:Mark on Japanese koro
Posted By: Martin Michels Thu, Mar 26, 2020 IP: 84.26.211.226

I found this koro on the internet with an intriguing signature. According the website the signature is Hachiryo or Yatsumine. I recognize the 1st Kanji indeed as Hachi or Yatsu, but I can't decipher the 2nd Kanji. Searching on the web in English hardly yields anything, so if someone knows which Kanji is the 2nd, I can expand my search to Japanese sites.
Any other additional information about this artist is welcome as well.
Thanks in advance,
Martin.

Hi Martin,

I believe the second character is 嶺, meaning "peak" and pronounced "ling" in mandarin. The RomanjiDesu translator gave "ryo" as one of the transliterations, but who am I to speculate.

Good luck,

Bill H.

Bill,

Thanks again, I think you're right.
So Hachiryo could be the name, but also Yatsumine. Both names are valid Japanese names, but not written like this. Unfortunately I could not find anything on the internet with those 2 names, not in English or on Japanese sites, so it will remain a mystery what the real name is.

Thanks again,
Martin.
