Subject:Some amber beads that we don't see very often # 2
Posted By: wingchuntaiji Wed, Feb 06, 2008 IP: 66.141.255.138 I am stilling having trouble with the close-ups. May be I need to wear my glasses to take these pictures. But, I can't see well when I wear glasses. The camera screen did show very sharp image, but the turn outs are always not as sharp. It is not exactly "What you see is what you get!"....(=: |

Posted By: springee Wed, Feb 06, 2008 Hi Isn't this substance a phenolic resin...something like bakelite? The picture i have is of a strand madeup in the style of muslim prayer beads and even though the Chinese romantically call this "snow mountain amber" i bought it (it costs very little) knowing full well that it it not natural amber.....it is a cheap but "fairly" attractive plastic .The colour has darkened over the years from a yellow/brown to orange/black through constant wearing. If u don't see these "amber beads" that often then u should come to Hong Kong, there are literally hundreds of thousands of them here! Peace S |

Posted By: springee Fri, Feb 08, 2008 Hi Wingchuntaiji "You admitted that you were a victim, that means you do not possess the knowledge to identify the material! " Victim of what? When i bought the beads i knew they were plastic,i knew they were cheap (US$20),i knew they were not "snow mountain amber",i knew they were not old and i knew they did not possess any magical healing(blah blah blah) powers.I liked the beads for what they look like. If you think that the beads you are talking about are any different, apart from colour, to the ones i photographed that's up to you. Where is this "snow mountain" .......Hello Kittyland? ;) Peace S |
