Subject:Mountains of Jade for Your Enjoyment.
Posted By: Stan Tue, Jul 09, 2013 IP: 24.147.28.167

I'm no jade expert. However, while on vacation, I saw some jade mountains that impressed me. Given that we often see shoddy (pseudo)jade carvings, I thought this would be a pleasant change. I'll post the first and, after that appears, I'll post the second. Feel free to enjoy and/or comment.

Please excuse the photography. I used an iPhone and, in some cases, was shooting through glass.

Below is the first. The tag says it is 8.3 inches high with the stand.

Cheers,
Stan

No problem Stan. Always love to see more of the world through a traveller's eye. The reflection in the second image suggests that you were probably in a Chinese antique shop.

The above piece has a price tag of $23,250 - may I ask what currency is that?

Looks good for a celadon nephrite and pretty huge one. Should be a modern Republic carving though, last twenty years perhaps.

Dave,

Those dollars are Canadian.

I thought the workmanship, detail, and finish were excellent. I thought the second one might be recent due to the crosshatch pattern on the tree leaves on the back. However, I have no reason to believe that assumption is true.

Cheers,
Stan

As promised, here is the second jade mountain. It is 12.5 inches tall with the stand.

Enjoy! I did.

Cheers,
Stan

I was back in Canada and here are a couple more jade items for your enjoyment. Sorry about the pictures. I was shooting through the shop window with an iPhone.

Cheers,
Stan
