Subject:oriental ? brass inkwell / spitoon

Hi, I have an oriental looking brass turtle inkwell (or spittoon?) and was hoping that someone may recognize it or know something about it please? I know it's old and probably from the 1800's, but I don't have any idea where it originates from. Each of the feet of the turtle (3 of the 4 feet) have 1 or 2 or 3 impressed to each which isn't oriental although it could be aimed at the European or British market when initially made? The glass insert looks like an ink well, but I have tried internet research and found nothing, though spittoons keep showing. Does anyone know anything about my turtle please? I don't think this is a spittoon, it's an ink well, please does anyone know anything about it? Thanks :)

Hi chris,
the inkwell seeems made in Qing Dynasty,it should be made in Asian countries,but not China. hope can help
