Does anyone have any idea who these characters are?

These guys are the He He Er Xian (ε’ŒεˆδΊŒδ»™), or Daoist "Immortals of Unity". One holds a small basket containing a money toad, so they also are associated with good fortune and prosperity. Here's another version of them on an eight-inch Chinese plate.

but there are three persons on the vase,one with a box, one with a coin and one with a toad in his hands.
could this be' Liu hai 'a God of Prosperity.

Their names are Hanshan and Shide, Tang-era monks who are often pictured together

It is not my intention to offend you, but you are right there are only 2 characters on the picture, therefore I put another photo of the third character.

I'm no porcelain expert, but this looks like a pretty decent vase to me. Try Tommy Eklof's book on faces to help narrow down the date of manufacture if you are otherwise without guidance
