Hi all,

can anybody tell me the text in this woodcut and the value. Its from Utagawa TOYOKUNI (1769-1825).

Despite the attribution, this is by Toyokuni III, AKA Kunisada, and dates to the mid-1850s.

Value is variable depending on the venue, but is moderate.

All I have to say is, if the guarantee is still in effect, you can get your money back. The artist is Utagawa Kunisada (aka Toyokuni III). (It is signed Toyokuni.) I can't see the date seal very well, but it looks like it was printed in 1860.

Check the archives at artelino.com. Kunisada triptychs of bijin (beauties) in very good shape go for about $400. Yours looks a little faded. The cherry blossoms should be pink, for example.
