Subject:Can anyone translate these 1920's Shanghai business cards?
Posted By: Maile Mon, Apr 14, 2014 IP: 192.225.116.137 I am wondering if anyone can translate the Chinese characters on the back of these mid-late 1920's business cards from Shanghai. Is it just the same information as the other side, but in Chinese? Any ideas what services these were for? Any help appreciated! Thank you. |

There's no indication what services or profession these women were in, but given that the Chinese "names" are merely Chinese characters that sound like the pronunciation in Chinese of the English names (ie, the Chinese "names" are not actual Chinese names), it may be that these were paid courtesans of some sort. |
