Subject:Satsuma stamp
Posted By: Mike van der Steenhoven Tue, Jul 01, 2014 IP: 94.215.15.95

Hey Guys, I am Mike from the Netherlands.
I recently bought a pair of Satsuma vases because I think they are beautiful. I have done some research and figured a few things out. It’s a Satsuma vase dating around 1930 early Showa period. With some help of a friend we were able to translate the stamp. It says 富山, とやま pronounced (toyama). Toyama-ken, it is a city or prefecture of on Honshu island Japan.
But that is about it I’m stuck, I really would like to know where it is made and if it is a mass product or not. I hope someone here can help me. I have included photos of the objects and the stamp.
Kind greetings,
Mike

Hallo Mike,

A bit hard without pictures but ... try it again with "zan" instead of "yama". "Tozan" would be an option.

Regards,

Arjan

Hallo Arjan,

Thank you for your reply. Something went wrong with uploading the pictures. I will try it again. Could you pleasse have another look? The stamp appears to be blue but we think there might have been some gold on top of it.
