Subject:Re: Chinese Porcelain Blue Teapot
Posted By: Bill H Wed, Jul 23, 2014 I'll go out on a limb and offer that this teapot looks to me possibly to be much later, like no older than circa late 20th century. There's precedent for a pot of its shape at least as far back as the Yongzheng period, but I drew a blank when trying to find one with a tiered "stupa" style lid like it has. The dragon also looks cramped in that narrow diaper in the middle of a spacious landscape motif. Almost like he's looking over his shoulder, wondering where the pearl of wisdom has gone into hiding. Anyone else got any better ideas? |
