Subject:2 Chinese Ginger Jars
Posted By: Brett Wed, Jul 23, 2014 IP: 69.119.200.71

I bought these at an estate sale. Was wondering about the period/year, maker, and if they had any value. Thanks for all the help :)

The first photo shows a six-character stamped mark in seal script within a double-lined rectangular reserve, reading down from the right as "Made during the Qianlong Reign of the Great Qing Dynasty" (Da Qing Qianlong Nian Zhi). Beneath it is a three-character mark reading from left to right in Western fashion as "Made in Macao" (Aomen Zao). The other four-character mark simply reads "Made during the Qianlong Reign".

These jars probably were produced during the third quarter of the 20th century. It may be that the dragon jar also came from a porcelain-painting factory in Macao.

Best regards,

Bill H.
