Subject:Chinese silk scroll - text, signature and is it print?
Posted By: pavla kesslerova Mon, Aug 11, 2014 IP: 81.157.165.40

Hello,
I have these two stunning scrolls in a frame. I thought they are Japanese but was told that although it uses some kanji characters it is actually Chinese. Somebody else also struggled to read the text as apparently some of the characters are "old" Chinese...
I don't know if they are prints or ink on silk or even how to identify the technique used.
Any help will be much appreciated at least the name of the artist. The red stamp has black lines underneath...

These are Chinese, newish, apparently machine woven. That on the left includes the name of Shen Zhou, a Ming painter following the inscription. That on the right includes the name of Tang Di, a Yuan painter. Neither of the pictures are stylistically typical of these artists' works, however.
