Subject:Zhong porcelain mark??
Posted By: joe Fri, Mar 18, 2011 IP: 69.121.6.98 Can anyone tell me what porcelain mark this is? I believe it may be Zhong due to the Arrow symbol? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. |

Posted By: joe Fri, Mar 18, 2011 Thank you both for all your help. I searched through the book "Marks on Chinese Ceramics", by Gerald Davidson and was unable to find it. (its possible I could have just missed it with the thousands of marks published in the book). Would either one of you and or anyone else recommend any other books I can use for reference of chinese ceramic marks? All your help is greatly appreciated. . |

Posted By: bill h Sat, Mar 19, 2011 The current (2010) version of Davison's reference has this mark essentially as No. 3319. However, the handkbook's mark has less variance than what your example shows in its 'Zhong' character. I believe this reflects the handbook's Republic-Period (1912-49) cut-off date for entries. |
