Subject:Assistance please ; identification of Zhou(?) bronze inscription
Posted By: robert Wed, Sep 17, 2014 IP: 209.212.5.130

Attached is an image of an inscription taken from the bottom of a bronze vessel... I would be grateful for any assistance with the translation of this inscription.

Thank you in advance
Robert

Sorry but this is an obvious fake antique object.
Cheers.

Hi,

Major clue: the corrosion is not natural but made with acids, and also there is a total absence of cuprite which is the first form of natural corrosion on bronze.

Another clue is the lack of fake corrosion on the written area.
Fake makers are more than often doing this to raise the price of the item. But it is a dead giveaway.

Only a handful of Chinese experts working for the Chinese government will be able to translate this form of writing.
Fake makers are using old genuine writings to reproduce some texts, even them won't have a clue of it means.
I very much doubt that anyone in this forum will be able to help.

Cheers.
