Subject:Identify bone/ivory carving

Can anyone help me learn more about this piece? I know it was purchased in Beijing China in the early 1970's as I have the receipt. Are they collectable or rare??

That could very well be a elephant tusk. Take a very sharp picture of the right side, the flat area.The we'll know for sure.
