Subject:Woodblock from the 18th century ?

Faded but according to a writing on the backside 18th century . So I would like to know whats written in the characters and the artist en date maybe ? Thanks in advance .

it's possible to be that early, but the calligraphy seems abbreviated in odd ways that suggests to me that it may be a more recent version of an earlier woodblock whose cursive wasn't accurately copied by the carvers making the reproduction. the inscription doesn't offer an artist or date. I don't know enough to recognize the image.

Thanks for your reply and it's framed in the beginning off the 19th century . The writing on the back in old Dutch (so early writing ) Saying Bird on blossom branch 18th century woodblock . So must be that old maybe ? You think taking it out the frame wil get some answers ? Like a stamp or something written on the back off the woodblock maybe ?

Japanese woodblocks may have the name of the publisher in the margins, and that can sometimes be revealed by removing the frame. This is less common for Chinese woodblock prints, though it's not impossible. I doubt that anything will be written on the back of the print itself though. If the framing is intact and in good shape, you may want to leave it that way.

Took it out but how thick was the 18th century paper used in woodblocks ? This paper is thick . Not anything written on the back found . Any way to translate whats written in the characters ?
