Subject:huanghuali
Posted By: fran Thu, May 15, 2014 IP: 70.197.8.14

I have a strip table that might be huanghuali but I can see that the table has split on one area where it's possible a section was inset into the top of the table. I think I see a small nail and I am curious to know if nails were even used in the construction of these furniture pieces. I believe this table was purchased about 6 years ago (2008) and also wonder if huanghuali was a wood being used in modern furniture construction. thanks for any information anyone can provide. fran

it is a common repair to place a moisture loss strip down one edge of the central panel of a huanghuali table top, but if it is hhli the restorer should certainly not have used nails. either way you will have to post images of it f you want anything like a sensible answer
