Subject:ming ware?

This plate got its 3 of the 6 words wrong on its mark. The calligraph does not look bad though. Is this authentic or fake?

This is authentic Japanese. Pictures don't help say for sure, but it could be a late Meiji period (1868-1912) or Taisho era (1912-26) product. Base has a faux mark of "Made during the Chenghua Reign of the Great Ming Dynasty".

The arabesque on the outer wall of the bowl and the "Three Friends of Winter" medallion centered in the cavetto are both of a style emblematic of Japanese ceramics decoration.

Best regards,

Bill H.

Hi, this is not Ming porcelain, but it also is not a fake. It is a nice Japanese Imari blue & white plate from the late 18th or early 19th century.
The plate shown in the link is very similar to yours and has the same apocryphal Chenghua mark.

Dear George

This is Japanese, possibly 19th century. It depicts the Three Friends Of Winter.
