Can anyone tell me if this is a real vase?

I don't recognise the mark but the throat and base are decorated as Jingdezhen (Chinese) and the scenes are Chinese. Regards, Jim

if by "real" you mean "valuable" the answer is no. seems very late 20th century. using pinyin the mark (which is reversed in the photo) reads dongfang gongsi, or "eastern/ Far Eastern company", vague to the point of uselessness, especially if this firm operates/operated out of Hong Kong where it likely had a differently romanized name. Bill H. may recognize the company though.

Doesn't ring a bell in Cantonese but might be a Chinese department store somewhere else in Asia or even one of the new porcelain-decorating factories that I believe have begun production in Shenzhen, north of Hong Kong. Mark doesn't appear in the latest Davison book.

Cheers,

Bill H.

Many thanks.
I thought it was a modern vase, but didn't know the mark.
