Subject:Old or altered modern jade plaque?
Posted By: Pekka Sun, Nov 16, 2014 IP: 90.191.157.122

Is it a genuine Ming (?) jade plaque or a modern copy altered by firing to look like old?

You have all the rights to worry..indeed this is a piece which is treated to make it palatable for the beginner.Sorry, ..but keep it, so that you have something to study " What old Jade does not look like" We all have to learn...

I'm very thankful to Ernest for a quick answer! That plaque belong to a friend of mine who is a dealer in Denmark. He is a honest dealer (I know him a while) and I think that he has been fooled. He bought Danish collections of jade recently and listed several pieces in Trocadero. Some of more interesting jade he has listed here (I have no idea are some of these pieces genuine or all are fakes):

Other his jade are listed at:

May be it's worth of seeing.
