Hi all

I also have these two dinneplates. Unfortunately with drilled wholes, but i am currious if they could be worth something anyway ?

I believe the marks "Pekin" (outmoded transcription for Beijing) and "Canton" (outmoded transcription for Guangzhou") have been used by more than one English maker of ironstone wares since at least the 19th century, if not earlier. You might want to do a search of eBay and webmalls such as trocadero.com and rubylane.com for leads to further information.

Hi Martin,
The first plate is Victorian by Ford Challinor & Co., from Staffordshire, England. Made between 1862 and 1880. The pattern is called "Pekin". In excellent condition it is worth $5-12. Because of the drill holes now only $0,00

The second plate is Victorian too by Hancock Whittingham&Co., from Staffordshire, England. Made between 1863 and 1872. The pattern is called "Canton". In excellent condition it is worth $15-20. Because of the drill holes now only $0,00
