Subject:Japanese Statsuma Artist and Translation Help!
Posted By: John Sun, Feb 15, 2015 IP: 24.44.45.107

Can anyone help me with identifying the attached piece? Am I correct is stating the artist is Kutani Ryozo? There is also a seal impression on the outer rim on the bottom along with the artist signature. Any help identifying the seal, age and or translation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

John

Hi John,

A nice " Koro "you have. My guess for a dating would be late Meiji. The red mark is not an artisname but it is a generic Kutani mark. (Kutani zo). Sorry... I can't help you with the impressed mark.

Regards,

Arjan

Hi, the mark is not of a maker, but a generic Kutani mark. Could you send a closeup of the impressed round mark? Maybe that is of the maker.
I think your piece dates to the late Meiji period.
