Subject:Ginbari, Ota

Japanese cloisonne, enamel over silver foil that has been stamped with a pattern. Termed ginbari in Japanese.

Popular 1900-1930?

pages 176-177 in The Art of Japanese Cloisonne Enamel by Fredric T. Schneider describes the ginbari technique, stating that Ota Jinnoie made such pieces.

The mark seems to resemble the one used by Ota Toshiro for pieces he sold as retailer-exporter.
(again, according to Schneider, p. 253)
