Subject:Korean, Japanese or Chinese (?) watercolor - please help identify artist and country of origin
Posted By: Anita Sun, Mar 22, 2015 IP: 24.215.204.191

This watercolor was given to my parents in 1982 by a South Korean guest who visited their home. The calligraphy on the watercolor appears to be Chinese. It was probably painted around that time. Any help you can provide in identifying the artist or any other information about this watercolor would be much appreciated.

The subjects are certainly Korean, and although hangul is overwhelmingly dominant, Koreans continue to use characters (hancha) from time to time, but I can't make out enough of the inscription to offer any of its content.

I can't help with the seals and cursive writing, but the painting shows figures in Korean costume, with a Korean-style cabinet in the background.

Best regards,

Bill H.
