It appears to be a relatively modern lost-wax knock-off in Japanese style, but made in China. It's nice, but only as a large decorative piece. The Chinese are flooding the market with modern bronzes in all types of East, Southeast, and South Asian styles. This one is a bit larger than most, possibly because it's a bit older (1980s?), from before the flood gates opened. If you're wondering how I can tell; it's from the marble base and the modern tooling, especially where the metal was ground away for the writing ("signature"). Truly old Japanese bronzes have separate root wood bases that are often missing. Marble is never used and the metal is never tooled away to add anything.
