Hi, I am selling this for a client and neither of us know anything about asian art. It comes from a very wealthy family that traveled the world. If anyone can give any info it would be greatly appreciated

This is an ancestral portrait, apparently of the wife of a mandarin bureaucrat. The badge with a bird on her robe would indicate the rank of the official, but the bird is not entirely visible, and identification of the species is required to say for sure what the rank is. My guess would be a fifth or sixth class civil servant, if not a ninth. These portraits have been widely fabricated to satisfy decorator demand in the contemporary era.
