Hello,

I cam across this bronze statue earlier today and was wondering of any of you could me ID the signature. She is about 24 inches high, Japanese female playing a Shamisen. Mark on side of base. Thanks in advance.

Sorry for the dark photo, I was more concerned on getting the mark clear than her.

This a bronze Tokyo school okimono in large format of a geisha holding a shamisen, signed 'Yoshiaki sei' (美明製 - 'made by Yoshiaki). Date: late Meiji- or Taisho period (1900s-1910s).

BTW: other possible pronunciation of the name could be 'Bimei'.
