Posted By: Bill H Fri, Jul 03, 2015 The base of the bowl shown here has a fake Chinese Ming mark of "Made during the Jiajing Reign" (Da Ming Jia-jing Nian Zhi), which would be transliterated in Japanese as "Dai Ming Ka-sei Nen Sei". Perhaps Arjan or another collector of Japanese wares could offer a more authoritative comment on the age of your bowls, but I would speculate that they may date to the late Edo Period (pre-1868). |
