Subject:Antique Silver Chinese Vase
Posted By: Brett Sun, Aug 16, 2015 IP: 69.119.204.46

I got this silver looking vase at the same estate sale that had the art I also posted. The lady claimed that this belonged to her great grandfather and was a family heirloom. Wonder the age and what the mark says. Thanks for the help.

I found a couple of auctions for silver items with this mark, which reads down in the first two characters on your vase as "Feng Xiang" (Standard 鳳祥 / Simplified 凤祥). What appear to be two separate characters at the bottom of the mark are stamped poorly and unreadable to me.

The first link below is to an auction result for a silver tray with the mark Hanxin Fengxiang (漢新鳳祥 / 汉新凤祥) and an indication in the description that the piece was made circa 1900. The other two links are to a Chinese auction for a silver teapot with what appears to be the same mark as on yours but no indication of dating.

You may wish to use the characters above for further searching via Google or your favorite engine, though Google has a fairly good translation program too.

Best regards,

Bill H.
