Subject:ID Help please, bought for a gift
Posted By: megan Sun, Aug 23, 2015 IP: 100.36.151.7

Hi everyone, I bought this as a birthday gift for my 93 year old grandfather who is an avid collector, he lived in Shanghai for many years after escaping Germany. I know nothing about most Asian art, but I thought this was beautiful when I found it in an estate sale this weekend. I am hoping someone can give me some details on what the writing says, or in an ideal world, who made this so I can send it along with the card to him next month. Thank you all so much for your help!

It seems to be dated 1963 (guimao year) signed by Xu Rurong 許汝榮, and derivative of Xu Beihong's famous horses. FYI The painting shown at the following link is dated 1978. http://scallender.info/?page_id=482

Here is another, with no bidders at RMB 2,000 (~$35)
