Subject:Please help... old... but neolithic carving???
Posted By: yurike Sun, Aug 23, 2015 IP: 173.69.179.177

Good evening...
I have this small carved stone, 1.5 in x 7/16. I do not have the equipment to do a specific gravity test. The stone does not leave a white mark when scratched. Any of your help and thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Looks like it was made of nephrite that contains a lot of actinolite (lots of iron)that is hard enough that it would pass the scratch test. Unfortunately, it really does not look like the type of nephrite material that could be found inside China. A really interesting piece and really do not know what to make of it. Can you share the history of how you get it, etc.?

This is an "ancient" carving for the tourist market, rough and unfinished, most likely made from some large rock pebble. As Super pointed out, -what is it supposed to be...Maybe someones idea of Hongshan, This item was "created" in minutes, not month.
