Subject:Painting reproduction potential worth?
Posted By: Keta Mon, Sep 21, 2015 IP: 68.60.236.62

Hi all. I was recently gifted a set of 4 framed asian painting reproductions I'm sure. After much research I think I have the artist and artwork name. It looks like the prints were originally done by Giuseppe Castiglione aka Lang Shining and are apart of a group called the "12 joyous months at Yuanmingyuan". I own February, August, October and December. What I'd like to confirm is that I have the correct artist. I would also like to know if anyone has any idea on their worth because whoever owned them before me spent money on having the prints placed in heavy custom frames. I have attached a photo of one of the posters and the signature stamp. I apologize for the poor quality and wrong direction of the photos I couldn't figure out how to rotate them but 90 degrees to the right is how they should be viewed. Thank you for your help!

The poor quality of your photos makes it unclear what you have, but there are a group of 12 paintings in the National Palace Museum Taiwan that may be the originals for your posters. See two of them reproduced in the first website below. The whole group are shown in the second link. They are not identified as being Castligione's work, however, but are perhaps by court painters who learned his techniques.

The images shown in the following link seem to be later copies of those in the preceding links.
