Subject:Stone inscription with a runic like writing

Hello community,
recently I have bought a red stone with a mysterious scripture. It looks like a runic writing.
The stone weights 878 gram, is about 17 cm long, max. 7 cm broad and max. 5 cm thick.
I am quite sure that a knowledgable member in this forum has an idea about its possible origin.

Google "runes." You'll find they're Norse and are read when the stone is horizontal. Hope someone can decipher it. Fascinating!

Hello Tom,
thank you very much for your simple but informative advice. The horizontal reading was the key! Because the stone has a flat site I considered it as the base. What a missdirection.

May be that I can now transcribe the runic inscription. The translation will be another task.

For all who wish to learn more on alphabets of the world here is a fascinating site.
