Subject:Agate (Carnelian) Year of the Snake?
Posted By: beadiste Tue, Oct 27, 2015 The stone is agate (quartz), likely dyed and/or heat-enhanced to that orange color. Don't know how the etching was done, but it's modern. |

If you cannot scratch it with a pocket knife (or needle), then it would be made of agate. It was for somebody who was born in the year of snake, with the picture and character of snake on one side and four characters that mean to have a peaceful and safe life on the other. Not a lot of monetary value but if you like it, that would be what is important. |

Subject:Thanks! I had wondered if it was sandblasting or something....
Posted By: beadiste Sun, Nov 01, 2015 Hopefully it wasn't something awful like fluoric acid... |
