Subject:Copper Red Porcelain Pear Vase
Posted By: Georgi Sat, Nov 21, 2015 IP: 68.231.244.8

Looking for opinions on the age of the piece and comments on the features. The vase is about 11 1/2" tall.

Glaze - to my eyes, the glaze is very nice quality and color.

Control of the glaze - stopping short of the foot, no running on the base.
Was this achieved only during early Qing or such control was possible during later periods? Of course, nowadays the control is much easier with such glazes.

Shape - seems like I cannot find a similar shape. Most of the pear vases have more bulbous bellies.

Foot rim - flat and smooth. From what I've heard flat footrims was not very common on Qing pieces and they are usually seen on Imperial porcelain. Modern pieces I guess can have whatever rim they want.

Copper red glazed base - I am not sure about this feature. Is that seen on early or later Qing pieces?

Glazed interior - common for certain period or can be seen during different periods?

Maybe I am missing some other features. One of my other concerns is that I don't see enough wear to the foot to be of older age.

Thanks in advance!
