Subject:Porcelain pedestal dish with butterflies
Posted By: Billy Wed, Nov 25, 2015 IP: 100.9.76.27 I am trying to figure out if this is new or older, has that thick sand like stuff around bottom edge. |

Posted By: Bill H Sat, Nov 28, 2015 In my opinion, this dish dates to around 1925 or later in the Republic era, when the Chinese Civil War was beginning to strain manpower and materials for the kilns. The painting is fair, but the motif around the foot is rather perfunctory compared to that on late-Qing wares, and the porcelain itself doesn't appear to be of a quality for export to the West. Probably made for domestic consumption or export to Asian markets. |
