Subject:Vietnamese carved wood dog

Can anyone tell me about my dog? I purchased him at an antiques shop in the early '80s. I was told that he is Vietnamese. There is a secret compartment ( door was missing when purchased ). He is 11.5 inches tall, anatomically correct with a beautiful patina.
