Subject:Snuff bottle Help

Hello,

I was wondering if someone can help me with the age of my snuff bottle i just got a auction it was listed as a Peking Red Jade Snuff Bottle,

But i am unsure of the age any imformation will be a great help.

Your pictures were simply not good enough for me to really tell a lot about it. The material of its cap, based on its luster, appears to be made of different material than that of the bottle. I doubt very much your bottle was made of real jade especially red jade. The red color, IMHO, was probably artificial and being dyed/painted. Red jade was extremely rare. Based on the carving marks I saw around its neck, it was very modern and was not well "carved". Sorry. Can it be made of glass or some other softer material? Its cap could be made of agate, glass or? (*on its bottle, it appears that a piece of paint came off?)
I hope you did not pay a lot for it and once again I really could not say for sure its age or its material based on these pictures. May be others can shed some light on it. Super

The material is clear glass with a red carved glass layer, often called Peking glass. It isn't signed. As Super stated, the quality of the work is middlin'. I see no evidence that it ever contained snuff indicating that it was never used as intended. Glass snuff bottles are difficult to date. Given the preponderance of evidence, it appears newer rather than older.
