Subject:Please help Identify Seal Artist Large Antique Japanese Peacock Painting
Posted By: Pravin Mon, Feb 01, 2016 IP: 27.99.97.186

Hi!

I recently bought this beautiful Peacock painting with parts gold painted lines as seen and I just can't read the seal mark or the script. Looks Japanese to me but I might be wrong too.

It's a big and beautiful painting and I can tell the age though that it's very old with the cloth foxing and the painting pigments used.

But I can't tell who painted it though there is a red seal mark and script.

Can anyone please, help me identify the artist for this beautiful large Peacock painting. And I love the painting.

The peacocks face is fierce, so may be a Samurai painter ? Any suggestions.

Thanks.

Any suggestions forum members ?
If the photos are not clear, could try to upload another ones.

And the painting seems to be on an old silk cloth not a canvas or cloth.

Any information is appreciates datewise and artist if can be read that is.

There are some parts painted in gold colors as well.

Neverthless the I love the painting, with a fierce eyes on a humble peacock, this my assumption of a Samurai painter ? ? Still on a learning curve. So any input is appreciated.

Thanks.
