Subject:chinese silverware question
Posted By: pipane Mon, Feb 08, 2016 IP: 117.131.134.40

This was acquired some 30+ years ago, three pieces silver box, Buddhist style, I was told once it would most probably be shanghai area silversmith work, Qing dynasty...

What do you think ?
Secondly what was it used for ?

Thank you...

Only see two pieces in your picture.
Can it be a Chinese export sugar bowl that comes with a tea kettle and a creamer?
Both marks on its bottom are identical: 裕和 possible the mark of the silversmith who made this, either Chinese or even Japanese.

Surprisingly did not see the purity of silver being marked as: 足銀 0.90 pure and higher or 紋銀 0.9353 (Qing) or 0.98 (Ming dynasty) or 純銀 0.925 pure (sterling).
Without any purity marks, I wonder if it can be silver plated? May be a jeweler or silversmith can test and confirm its purity?
If it is a bit taller, it can also be an incense holder?
