Subject:Painting Chinese Or Japanese?
Posted By: Josh Mon, Apr 04, 2016 IP: 73.187.32.168

Found this signed watercolor painting that I believe is Chinese. Was wondering if anyone could translate or tell me anything about the symbols. Thanks

Very deep and mysterious.

The symbols read J - U - A - N - U - A

But the second U might turn out to be an I and a T if you look closely.

Typical of a Korean market item for the tourist trade.

Chinese but probably done outside of China. your picture reads "Joanna" and was done in 2003. no commercial value

Mikeoz is correct, this is Korean rather than Chinese (hangul in left column, not characters)

I live in New York and these paintings are very typical street vendor pieces on the streets in Manhatten and China town. Almost like a caricature except instead of a portrait of you they paint your name.
