Japanese make named 松盛, not sure of the pronunciation, here's a similar version online:

Hi Rat & B. Cha,

I found a Bonhams auction result for a bronze figure of an archer with a mark containing the same name, indicated to be the Meiji-period artist Matsumori (松盛 [まつもり]). The shape of the mark here is different, so further research probably is indicated to determine if the urn might be by a different generation artist from the same family.

Best regards,

Bill H.

Not the same artist or workshop for sure. IMO and despite its appearance, the vase is more recent, Taisho to Showa era I guess. Made for the domestic market.

Reads 'Matsumori'. It's a bronze ikebana vase in traditional style.

For education, what do you think this is an imitation of?

Thank you.

I believe this is the bronze that is imitated, I'm not sure if there is a name for the method other than imitation-bronze. I think it is brass that is made to look like bronze as you can see the brass beneath the points with wear, sometimes items made of clay can have the same bronze-finish effect.
